VEGAMOTVegamot is an old norse word for crossroads, and the hat got it’s name from
the little purl roads meeting in the middle.
REQUIREMENTS
Yarn: 55g Garnstudio Karisma (brown hat)
40g Rowan Scottish tweed (beige hat)
or any 100-140 yards (90-130 meters) of DK weight wool yarn
Needles: US 2 ½ (3mm) and US 4 (3,5mm) dpns
Gauge: 21 sts/32 rows = 10 cm in pattern
NOTES
Abbreviations:
CO = cast on
sts = stitches
sl = slip as if to purl
k = knit
p = purl
p2tog = purl 2 together
k2tog = knit 2 together
* = repeat instructions between * and *
DIRECTIONS
CO 96 sts on smaller needles using Knitting-on cast-on method
(www.knittinghelp.com) or your preferred stretchy cast-on. Divide sts evenly
on four needles, 24 sts on each. Join to work in the round.
Rib:
Row 1: sl1, k2, p1, *k3, p1*
Row 2-8: *k3, p1*
Row 9: *k7, p1*
Change to bigger needles, and work chart or instructions for pattern.

Repeat rows 10-16 5 more times, or until hat measures 6 inches (15 cm) from
co-edge.

Row 4: *k3, p2tog, k1, p1, k1, p2tog, k3, p1*
Row 5: *k4, p3, k4, p1*
Row 6: *p1, k4, p1, k4, p2*
Row 7: *k1, p2tog, k2, p1, k2, p2tog, k1, p1*
Row 8: *k2, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k2, p1*
Row 9: *k3, p3, k3, p1*
Row 10: *p2tog, k2, p1, k2, p2tog, p1*
Row 11: *k1, p1*
Row 12: *k2, p3, k2, p1*

Break yarn, thread through remaining 6 sts, pull tightly.
Weave in ends on the inside of the hat.
